PatronSat is codename for an exciting pre-launch project looking for a full-stack CTO based in the U.S. to help build the initial product and to join as a founding team member.

PatronSat aims to fix wealth inequality in the U.S. and beyond with a novel solution that helps solve problems on both ends of the spectrum. It’s being founded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.

The problem:

Millions of Americans are financially insecure, have no savings, and are living paycheck to paycheck. On the other hand, just the 50 richest in the U.S. are worth as much as the bottom half of the population (or 165 million people) combined.

The ultra-wealthy are aware of the growing issue of wealth inequality and many seem to want to do something about it. In fact, over $1.5T (that’s trillion!) has already been pledged by just the 200 or so ultra-wealthy individuals on the Giving Pledge. To put this in perspective, this already pledged amount would be about $5,000 for every single American. However, currently only a small portion of these pledges have actually been fulfilled, because this wealth is too large and growing far too fast to be efficiently allocated or even spent by such few people.

Currently the ultra-wealthy have only two things they can do with their excess wealth:

1. Give to charity. This is highly time-consuming and inefficient at large scale, because charities are not set up to handle such large donations. Even Bill Gates, who has devoted himself fully to charitable giving, is richer today than he was when he started his life of philanthropy more than a decade ago.

2. Wait for death or taxes. Then our bloated and inefficient government takes a large portion as wealth or estate taxes and squanders it on war and waste. In the meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy are increasingly vilified for their runaway successes and need more and more personal security to keep them safe as they go about their lives.

The solution:

PatronSat is building a novel, elegant solution that addresses the issues created by wealth inequality from both ends, while also providing the first truly mass adoption use case for Bitcoin and blockchain technology in the U.S.
