Smart Contract Engineer

Primary responsibilities

• Deploy the current version of the protocol (Rift Vaults) to new chains.
• Implement and deploy new protocol functionality.
• Write tests for existing and new versions of the protocol.
• Contribute to open source projects to help build out the web3 smart contract ecosystem.
• Keep up to date on the latest advancements in smart contract engineering and security, and utilize them for our projects.
• Play an active role in expanding the team - interviewing candidates.
• In your first 90 days you will develop a strong understanding of how our current protocol works and how we deploy it, assist in deployments, upgrades, parameter updates to all deployed contracts and actively contribute solidity code to our new product rollouts.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience building and releasing production grade Solidity contracts.
• Deep familiarity with smart contract development frameworks: Hardhat, Foundry
• A deep understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine
• A desire to keep up with modern best practices in smart contract engineeringPrior experience deploying complex smart contract systems to the Ethereum mainnet
You will also exhibit the following experiences and competencies
• Curiosity - there are no college courses on how to be a great smart contract engineer. You will be innately curious, able to learn independently, proactively research the latest advancements in smart contract engineering and security.
• You are a strong engineer - you can reason about and solve complex engineering problems and have at least 2-4 years  experience in a professional software engineering role.
• Sound economic reasoning - part of being a smart contract engineer is reasoning about the economics of the systems that we’re building on – should have an understanding of simple financial products (borrowing, lending, yield).
• Communication - you will be working on critical components of our stack and need to be an integral member of the team, communicate timelines and goals effectively, speak up when needed.
